Once safe and comfy in your Stretch Limousine, your tour’s journey to downtown will start by watching “Piece of the Pie” from WGN’s Chicago’s Best. Jon Porter the Owner of Chicago Pizza Tours helps narrate this special that dives into the lore behind the Chicago deep-dish pizza. Once you’ve learned the story behind the biggest names in Chicago Pizza, you’re ready to start your tour with a custom route designed just for M&M Limousine.
Enjoy custom YouTube Videos from Jon for each location where he will talk about the history, types of ingredients, and the ovens each place uses to make these pizzerias great. All stops visited are very different in flavors and styles offering guests a chance to compare and contrast styles as you See Chicago One Slice At A Time! This tour will serve as a great, memorable meal and includes dessert.
Your Private Pizza Tour Lineup:
–Coalfire – Opened in 2007, Coalfire is the first coal oven pizzeria in Chicago. Their oven rages at temperatures close to 1200 degrees which cook your pie in under two minutes with a charred crust that is both crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Coalfire works closely with local farms in Central and Northern IL to bring you fresh regional flavors.
–Pequods– Pequod’s Pizza Lincoln Park – Located in the heart of Lincoln Park just outside of DePaul’s Campus, Pequod’s has been a local legend since 1971. Their deep dish is famous with the locals because of the signature burnt cheese caramelized crust with their sweet sauce.
–Flo & Santos – While Chicago is known as the deep dish capital of the world, for the most part, locals-only eat it on special occasions or when people from out of town are visiting. What we grew up on is a thin crust tavern-style pizza. This style of pizza was developed in the working-class neighborhoods of Chicago in taverns. Intended as a snack, these pizzas would keep their patrons full and drinking more old style. Flo & Santo’s does an amazing tavern style and pays homage to their Italian/Polish roots. Enjoy a tavern-style pizza and save room for their signature S’mores pizza for dessert on your ride home.
